Chronology of Data Breaches

Privacy Rights Clearinghouse has been tracking breaches since 2005 and publishes a Chronology of Data Breaches.

The Privacy Rights Clearinghouse has created a list of data breaches in which the personal information compromised includes data elements useful to identity thieves, such as Social Security numbers, account numbers, and driver's license numbers. The list, while not exhaustive, is a useful indication of the types of breaches that occur, the categories of entities that experience breaches, and the size of such breaches.
