How Inaccurate Private Data Leads to Loss of SSI Benefits: What advocates should know

In this webinar, experts discuss how a private database used by the government to verify eligibility for SSI benefits is full of errors and can cause vulnerable beneficiaries to lose their benefits through no fault of their own.
Published: Thursday, November 04, 2021

The Social Security Administration (SSA) uses a private database from LexisNexis called Accurint for Government to find beneficiaries who own unreported non-home real estate and cutting off their Social Security disability payments. Advocates have found the reports are riddled with errors, often causing suspension of benefits to vulnerable low-income seniors and disabled consumers who rely on the crucial income. This webinar explains the problem and discusses how community-based organizations can build awareness and advocate for affected individuals.
